An effective landscaping tree which has long serrated leaves that shorten as the tree ages develops a rounded top. Naturally found throughout the North Island and South Island mainly east of the main divide. Coastal to subalpine, dune forest, in grey scrub overlying pumice, on coarse gravels, limestone outcrops, boulder fall, cliff faces, talus slopes.
Prefers full sun.
