A magnificent palm which will grow up to 10 metres tall. Very slow growing and provides a dramatic statements plant in a garden design.
Plant in rich soil and do not allow to dry out. Will grow in full sun or shade but prefers shade while young. Is very frost tender and fronds will blacken and rot when frosty.
Primarily a species of coastal to lowland forest in the warmer parts of New Zealand.
